There was a good boy, Yannis thought as her loosened her hold. They still clung, but it was more like a draping vine than a coiling snake. "Of course," she said, melodious tone in her voice. "I apologize for that. They sometimes have a mind of their own." She chuckled, swiping her bangs out of her face. "Tell me, Captain," she started, using his preferred titled. After all, she had pleased her. "What sort of responsibilities do you have, besides making up for Ts. Richmond's fumbling attempts at hospitality?"

Winnipeg glanced down at the metal tendrils still resting about his waist and leg. He might be able to breathe and walk freely, but he wasn't sure he liked this arrangement. What did Yannis want from him anyways?
"It's no trouble," he said as cordially as he could manage. "And this is actually pretty unusual for me to be doing, though Richmond has set me doing jobs outside of my general responsibilities plenty of times before. Normally I run scouting missions or manhunts on the Adversary."

Yannis nodded slowly as he spoke. "The Adversary?" Yannis said, a hint of amazement in her voice. "It sounds like an intimidating ship. What sort of people do you hunt? Vagabonds? Ruffians?"
As they spoke, the council's building grew in the distance. A tall spire, reaching up to the bright ceilings of the dome that protected the dwellers from Ikimas's harsh weather. It was latice and looked to be made from crystal and not powerful metal. While Yannis couldn't hide the awe, the jealously was well buried. She wanted this for her people. She wanted these structures and safe places for the Garinti. And one way or another, she was going to get it.

Winnipeg shrugged, though a hint of pride worked its way into his voice. "Well usually we go after people who need to be brought before the Lit Tristii, either as an escort or more often to place an arrest. Criminals who manage to catch the council's attention are generally a cut above your average ruffian."
He followed her gaze to the council building. "This is the first I've seen it for about a month. I've been checking our outposts and just got done with a week long training session for new recruits. It's good to be home." Though it'd be better if he were really home. In his house. And not being a tour guide.

Home... His home and her home were vastly different. From the flashy technology down to the way the people talked and acted. They even dressed themselves. The fabric of Yannis's shirt - immaculate, intricate, and stunning - still felt too much like an itchy second skin. And while she was angry at Richmond, she was glad Arthur was mild enough for now. Hopefully, it would work in her favor.
"It sounds like you have many responsibilities," Yannis commented mildly. "It's quite impressive. Fighting enemies, scouting, training recruits, escorting guests." She smiled, running her claw down his arm. "How would you like to keep this tour short, so you may return to your home all the sooner?" There was a dangerous tone beneath the words.

The response came immediately, mechanically. Without any real inflection. "I'd love to."
Winnipeg's breath hitched, and it had nothing to do with Yannis running her claw down his arm. People said that inadvertently every now and then, and usually it passed by without anyone noticing. It was still unnerving when it happened, and that went double when he was already a little on edge.
But he smoothed his expression of surprise over as quickly as he could. "If that is what her Radiance would like, then that's what will happen."

A break in his pattern of breathing. Did he realize his mistake? Yannis had to give his recovery to him. It transitioned nicely and he even looked calm while giving it. All in all, his response pleased her.
"How does this sound for a plan, then, Captain?" Yannis asked. "We do our tour, have a nice lunch, and then I can wait out the rest of my time for Tarimas Richmond on my own?"

Winnipeg could hardly believe his fortune. She'd let him off the hook, and in a way where he wouldn't still be bound by Richmond's orders. His smile widened a bit.
"It sounds like a fantastic plan. Here, the Court Building is coming up ahead."

Oh, she liked that smile. The way it lifted his cheeks and showed off those nice teeth. A tentacle twitched. She would enjoy this tour, and almost felt silly for letting him go earlier than need be. But, her people required information the Lit Tristii had. And if getting it meant getting Winnipeg off her back, then so be it.
Her eyes gazed up at the Court Building. Her expression was one of cool dismissal, despite how extravagant it was. "Seems a little bit of the gaudy side, but I suppose it works well enough for your council," she said coolly as the entered. "I do like the nice change in atmosphere, however." It was just a bit colder inside, enough to keep pleasant despite all the bodies. She purred slightly. "So you do not come here all that often, correct?" She asked, gazing over all the people going to and fro, talking, some bickering. To Yannis, it was rather disorderly.

As glad as Winnipeg was about getting off the hook, Yannis's response to his smile didn't go unnoticed. One eyebrow quirked a bit. Why did she suggest he leave so early anyways?
But really that was Richmond's problem, not his. He shrugged it off as they entered the Court Building's hustle and bustle of diplomats, secretaries, assistants, agents, politicians, soldiers, and citizens who wanted to be heard by a higher-up.
"No, thankfully. It's a little too loud for me, and public for that matter." He smoothed the front of his coat, still very aware of the tendrils looped about his form. "But that's one of many reasons I never settled for a desk job."

"Completely reasonable," Yannis agreed, taking in everything with wide eyes. Security guards - they had to be with their uniforms and checking people's cards - were stations throughout several points, guarding entrance, front desk, and elevator. Mounted on the walls and ceiling, Yannis noticed, were security cameras. She suppressed a frown as they made their way to the first security checkpoint.
"This technology is very unlike what the Garinti have," she said, working just a little by of awe into her voice. "How does it work? Is it useful?"

"It's useful enough, though people become a little too reliant on our technology sometimes." Winnipeg looked up at the cameras. "If you have someone inattentive on the other side of the camera, it doesn't do anyone much good until afterward when they're checking the recordings."
He slowed down as they reached the first security checkpoint. The guard didn't really need to see his badge, but it was protocol. He slid it across the counter at them and glanced back to his companion. "Anything in particular you want to see?"
